Kid Safety Contest
Classes worked on pictures for the Governor's calendar to promote safety outside of school.  Students discussed the proper way to ride on a bike, play sports, shoot firecrackers just to name a few.  Students will find out later in the school year if there picture was chosen.
Box Tops for Education
We are trying to raise $550.00 in box tops for education.  If we reach our goal we will have a popscile party!  Drop them off in the art room.

Needed Supplies
Paper Towel Rolls, Plastic lids from store bought pies, Square plastic containers with lids from baby food, and men's dress shirts.
Subway Video and Poster Contest
Subway has chosen South Carolina to kick off there Sure Fit Contest.  Students in all grades are participating in the poster contest.  The theme is "What can my family or I can do to stay fit?"  We are all working hard on this project.  We have a very short time and if we get in on time student will receive a $5.00 certificate from Subway.  Who says school work doesn't pay.

DAP Elementary Grant
The elementary received a grant in the amount of $20,000 from the State Department of Education.  It is called "Redefining the Elementary Experience".  During the school year students will experience quality performances and residencies in dance and drama.  Teachers will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, summer institutes, and state conferences.  In the end teachers will have additional ways to teach through the arts and hopefully increase student performance.
